About Me
My
name is Andrew Sizeland, I've been living around the King's Lynn area of Norfolk for over 30 years and have
travelled all over the country for the last 20 as part of the various jobs I've had. I work as a senior IT
Professional, a career path that seemed a good logical step from my keen childhood interest in all things
computing.
From the very first days of personal computing, I have been fascinated with seeing
and manipulating images on screen. Before the advent of digital camera's I would scan my photographs into the PC
and attempt to tweak and tune them with reasonable levels of success. In those days (just a few years ago in
reality) the PC's and software available had very limited capabilities and printing pictures of even the most basic
quality was simply not an option.
Today those restrictions have gone. It's now possible to obtain high end digital SLR
cameras, top quality lenses, hugely powerful computers, massively capable software toolsets and printers capable of
printing near perfect images.
It is a very satisfying feeling to take a picture, download it from the camera and
run through a workflow process on the PC to end up with a printed picture showing detail to amazing levels. Of
course it can be equally frustrating when you just can't get the image to appear on the paper the way you want
it!
I use Canon EOS cameras with the highly regarded Canon 'L' glass lenses, Adobe
editing software and a Canon printer to output my images.
I mount my pictures behind a pure white card and then frame them behind glass in a
thick white ash frame giving a very pleasing crisp effect that can be hung in almost any modern room. Should you
require a different style of frame then these can of course be sourced.
Photography is my hobby and Woodcote
Photographics is my personal web site for showcasing some of my pictures. I still have a lot to learn and always
look to pick up tips and ideas from professional photographers, exhbitions and magazines etc.
One area I'm beginning to get more into is portrait photography - close up head and
shoulders, worn faces that tell their own story, the effects of different lighting etc. Having invested in some
studio lights and begun to play with these and various backdrops I am having fun learning how to get controlled
environment shots.
Please take a few moments to browse the pictures on this site. I'm always keen to
hear feedback - so feel free to pass comment in the Contact Me section.
